Who Are We?
Southern
Maryland
Parents of Multiples is a non-profit organization that serves expectant
parents, parents, grandparents and legal guardians of multiple birth
children in St. Mary's, Calvert and surrounding
counties. We are
a
support group whose members help each other by sharing information,
experience, advice, and tips.
Our fellowship of members offer understanding to others who are
experiencing the unique challenges of raising multiples.
In addition to providing support for parents of multiples, the Southern
Maryland Parents of Multiples provides unique learning opportunities
for children and youth through scheduled activities, field trips,
visits to museums and other educational forums. These
educational activities allow parents to introduce their children to the
wider world around them.
We have members from
Calvert
County, St. Mary’s County, and Charles County. Our
multiples include
twins, and triplets. We
have grandmothers of twins, mulitple multiples (two sets of twins in
one family!), identical triplets and two stay-at-home Dads of
Triplets!

Say "Thank you!"
"Didn't
think I'd ever see it to this day -- but I have all of you to thank for
getting me through this past month of bedrest. Hearing all of
your own pregnancy stories helped so much. Whenever I had a
day where I couldn't stand being pregnant any longer I could hear
Cynthia and Marilouise's voices in my head saying
'every day they are in you, are two days they don't have to spend in
the NICU' and that kept me going. "
"Thanks again to all of
you who brought by food those first few weeks of bedrest --
it made all the difference. Also, I'm especially thankful that
joining POMs brought Christine and I together... How often do
you get to commiserate with someone else who is also having twin girls,
due 3 days apart from you, and has the same doctor? Our email
conversations definitely
have kept us both feeling normal during this time when sometimes all
you feel like is some bizarre, swollen circus freak."

"I just wanted to send a
quick
thank you to everyone who has already written about my sleep and
clothing questions. It is so wonderful wonderful wonderful to
be
a part of such a knowing and supportive community. Having
twins
truly is an extraordinary blessing, but I have also felt
exhausted at times by all that I did not know either about
babies
or about babies times two. So I am thrilled to now be a part
of
this group, and very much look forward to meeting everyone and their
families. Thank you, thank you!" ~ Jessica
